While living in Haldimand County some years ago, the Y in Hamilton was the most convenient place for a run, sauna and Yoga. The teacher, Phil, was an inspiring lifelong Martial Arts aficionado who in his 40s developed a passion for Yoga. He was in his 50s when I attended these classes and he looked 20 years younger.  He had a boyish excitement to all the sequences and his classes were attended by a diverse group of people.  As a wind down he would dim the lights and have people assume the corpse position, Sivasana. People would grab a mat, lie on their back, and then he would turn on a recoding of Pachelbel’s Cannon done on a synthesizer mixed with seagulls and ocean sounds. Unfortunately put me in the “be not at peace” mood but I understood I was in the minority.
