At the end of Silence of The Lambs, after the serial killer is killed after the story is finished there is a final scene, Anthony Hopkins on the run, surprises Jodie Foster with a telephone call from a foreign land. He is following the former psychiatrist who made his life hell. Jody Foster is freaked out to hear from him and asks where he is and his answer alters the ending of the story, “I do wish we could chat longer but I’m having an old friend for dinner.” He hangs up.
Songs with outros that start new ideas. Lost art form. I love it the most. At the end of Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head BJ Thomas sings a phrase, sounds like he’s tossing it off and then Carumba! -the band embraces that whole gesture plus in case anyone thought it was just fooling around it’s in 9, doesn’t get much better. The Beatles – Heyla Hebba hello or I’m Only Sleeping, too many to list.
