Went to an Ethiopian restaurant and while ordering food thought about how many times certain things are right under your nose. At one time bop wasn’t considered music, hip hop wasn’t taken seriously, disco was treated with hostility, rock was a gimmick but all those judgements pass away. Some people had real connections to it as it was happening. Others look back and wish they tuned in and appreciated it in real time. Had not been to an Ethiopian restaurant in a long time and the soundtrack was like other places I’ve been to but never before tuned into the fact that it is a saxophone [tenor?] always present in these tunes. Unique style often accompanied by a ridiculous keyboard like the Casio I appropriated from my brother and used on Diamond Mine. So unique unexpected funny and deep music. I must make it to the Danforth sometime when Brodie West plays this shit live.
