Weirdest moment at the memorial was when an old singer took the stage and played a song that the dead guy’s band used to play. The lyrics made fun of poor people. It seemed so weird that this old guy, who sees himself as a working class champion and/ or a protest singer songwriter, wants to sing this particular song as if it is proof of the dead guy’s wit. Maybe I never got the jokes. It’s might be that everything I think is one way is actually exactly the opposite. Thought it was obvious Mike Harris could not be re-elected, George Bush could not be re-elected, Donald Trump could not come close to winning. So many things I don’t think are music are treated by the current mainstream as though they are as musically compelling as Fly Me To The Moon or 8 Days A Week or Help Me.
