i don’t remember what

In the presentation today, the students discussed Leonard Cohen’s I’m You Man and one student explained one of his songs and her interpretation didn’t make sense to me. This isn’t the first time I have listened to a student explanation of something I feel close to that I view differently. I had an imaginary reaction where I corrected her and explained the superiority of my interpretation like Woody Allen pulling out Marshall McLuhan from behind the movie sandwich board, but I also enjoyed realizing there was no way I could convince her about anything different than her view, so I tried to make myself happy while at the same time noticing Hank Williams coughing from above us, all night long.
