Some people think the song itself is to blame and I understand that interpretation but either way it says something about the singer of the song, something about his/her skills of perception. Like wasn’t there something else in the back story before you guys all got to the dance that night? The thing is, if he or she had a roaming eye or if she or he had their sights set on their friend’s romantic partner, it’s inconsequential whether or not the state of Tennessee’s 4th official song was playing or not. Sure, the singer recalls the moment their eyes locked in the waltz! Hollywood calls it an inciting incident, but I suggest it was a deeper problem and the Tennessee Waltz totally innocent.
