I saw a comedian choke on stage at the Edinburgh festival fifteen years ago while playing near there with Jane SIberry. The guy was making jokes that people didn’t laugh at and then he freaked out and yelled at the audience and smashed his bag of cassettes on the stage, which he had brought to sell and stormed out. I wondered if it was a performance but it felt too real and humiliating. It was that real and humiliating. I hope in any failure on stage I never consider doing that as a way to resolve my disappointments. oy
