At the fridge magnet workshop I was bored. The leader cut out slogans in advance to glue onto our awkwardly painted pieces of cardboard. Listening to Gord Downie’s last record. My sense around him, especially in his 20s was that he felt like an outsider and understood the place of privilege where the roulette wheel stopped for him. The trick is blending the tahini and lemon juice first before adding the chick peas, if anyone is still wondering. There was a great improvisor from Chan Shal Imi that said people have different temperaments and that isn’t something that can be changed. Like genes for how tall you are and the colour of your hair; born with a disposition. I didn’t think it true at first but I’m wearing different glasses now. Does it apply to musicality?
