I stood outside the Asian market on Spadina and wondered about that crazy exotic fruit that polarizes so many, durian. Eventually one woman bought a small one. I asked the guy how much she spent. It was $40 but he said there are cheaper pre-cut pieces in the freezer. I bought $10 of durian and took it home. After it thawed I ate half of it, incredible, like a cheese that is called a fruit. Very strong smell.\u00a0People will know next week that a durian was in my home today. Wonder whether Keith Jarrett will like it or be repelled. Earlier I attended a Summerworks play that bored me much, the music too. Score was one instrument an electronic keyboard playing meandering whole tone intervals which never resolve. The play had no resolution either, maybe that was why they chose this music. Wondered many times why don’t I stand up and leave since after the first 5 seconds clearly I was being held hostage. Am I afraid of the social crime to get up and leave a play that has no meaning for me? Yes I am. Remained in my seat and spent the time enjoying what I didn’t like about the play and the music. This led my memory to an interview with Keith Jarrett years ago when he explained why he doesn’t like electronic music, “for me it’s like being in a room with a smoker”.<\/p>\n
