The lyric surprised\/ impressed me, thought it was about someone who was developmentally delayed. Turns out it was about his infant son &#8220;leave him alone, he&#8217;s speaking with the angel&#8221; but the way I heard it I thought it was about someone older and intellectually challenged. What an amazing position to take and sing from, I thought.<\/p>\n<p>Warren Zevon died in 2003. I won&#8217;t be able to ask him about Splendid Isolation.
