Sometimes people say they are stuck, they have no ideas for a melody or they simply say how do you make up a melody? I wanted to start our conversation about melody with imitation and variation but these classes have both experienced players and lack of experience players. How can I include everyone in the discussion? Sometimes the answer is to look at the opposite. So I played them the One Note Samba and afterward asked what they thought of the melody.
