Friend sent me music by a musician improvising with acoustics and electronics. Friend was excited, also supplied a blurb about how radical this artist was, only they weren’t. Many interesting musicians, some here in Toronto, already doing this type a long time but separate from that I’m more excited by things that can’t be imitated so easily. Was listening to a philosophy lecture later about the fact that thoughts are like a current in a stream and one cannot know what one will say next, you experience the current but cannot see it, it isn’t still. Found myself recognizing how that’s the essence of what’s exciting about improvising or put another way, what disappoints me most is being able to hear that the person supposedly improvising, isn’t.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
