She believed there were omnipresent examples of this in society and addressed it in song. One in particular was about the madness of the music business sometimes propping up models instead of musicians. In her last assignment she cited the atomic bomb, slavery, the Holocaust, the guillotine, the electric chair, the extinction of animals, the factory farm &#8211; and that we even send our own shit and piss into the very water systems where we retrieve fresh water for drinking &#8211; all as proof of the coexistence of madness in the human made world. I was thinking about her ideas when Nina Turner lost the Ohio election last night. It had not occurred to me that there could be this outcome between someone concerned about the poor, the planet and rooting out the corrupt and her opponent who was propped up by corporate lobbyists and is under an ethics probe for awarding her boyfriend state funds, but when faced with this news, just a few minutes following my daughter singing along to the Jonas Brothers and Shawn Mendes, I had to laugh at how true it is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One time there was a student in my class who wrote about madness as a natural part of humankind&#8217;s existence.
