I saw the Nutcracker. Turned to my daughter half way through and asked if she understood what was going on. She said yes, which was great since I didn’t. Tchaikovsky’s wonderful music has moments which compelled clapping along by some. I didn’t think this was necessary and when it started a 2cnd time, the initiating person commenced on the two instead of the one, adding a superb suspenseful dimension to the show. Now dancers had the problem of overcoming offbeat clappers while trying to correctly hear what music goes with which movement.
