I walked out on a play one time, there was a historical component to the story that disturbed me. It feels good to leave something when you find it painful. In the final scene before intermission, a local woman, suspected of working for the underground, was interrogated by the SS, but they couldn’t break her despite banging their fists on the tables and screaming. It was no use, she was too tough and they gave up. This ran contrary to what I know about the SS in WW2. A student in October wanted me to see a comedy sketch by a comedian who plays the piano like he’s having a seizure. It’s supposed to demonstrate his view of modern jazz. A drummer keeps time with brushes and a bass player plays walking lines while the comedian spills and spazzes onto the piano. The student wanted to impress me. He imagined I shared his sense of humour, but I just wanted an intermission so I could walk out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
