The parasitic wasp invades the caterpillar and alters it’s behaviour. The caterpillar then eats into obesity feeding the parasites who eventually paralyze the caterpillar then burst through it’s skin with tiny razor mouths that only have one job, penetrate thick skin. Then scientists believe the caterpillar’s brain is corrupted by the wasps to guard them as they make cocoons and it dutifully does this until starving to death. Some kind of echo about that which I keep thinking on. Our conditions as creatures that have brains whose same brain invented a part of itself to pretend it is in charge of everything when it isn’t, the brain that invented the part saying I’m Bob or Bill or Bertha is what’s actually in charge. Are we manipulated by brain to believe we are something that we are not or are we the thing manipulating brain, and it seems usually failing or complaining about it. At the piano whatever “I” try to learn is never really learned by “I” but rather by this body. The difference between me and the body is that me learns it at the speed of a caterpillar and after a zillion tries, the body knows it at body speed yet I take credit, knowing all the while it isn’t me and something else is going on.
