In the first class there was a discussion about the news reports on Liz Truss, the new Prime Minister in England and how they frame her and her colleagues as the first time white men are not in power. Two types of songs were articulated for a first exercise in class. Some are singing about white men not in power and some are singing about whether society needs to focus on racialization and gender to measure leadership instead of just whether or not the leadership was good or bad. If the women should do better does that mean white men are bad and if the women do worse does it mean it was better when white men were in charge? Both scenarios perpetuate believing leadership is connected to racialization and gender. I wonder what we’ll hear in the bridges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
