Predictably some students did not hand in the first assignment. I have learned that this is a special moment because if I let it slip, it signals they can do this over and over. Easily I become the mark in their 3 card monte. I stood firm and it is interesting how each one caves. Someone told me they failed an interview because they didn’t expect to be asked a certain question about their assessment of students. I wonder when I am interviewed for the teaching job I seek, what questions they will ask that will throw me.
