For my daughter’s birthday she wanted to see the new Spiderman film with her friends and so we did. I found its messaging as engaging as American Idol, especially the second plot point where a main character is confronted over causing unnecessary deaths after they altered the universe. Those in control try to impress upon the main character that death is inevitable and sometimes tragic but meaningful and altering the universe as they did might stop one unwanted death but otherwise generates many more. The main character returns with a rebellious attitude of god damn the rules – I am an individual and my feelings are more important than any collective well being bullshit. Besides someone might die who I am personally close to! You guys don’t understand!!! The message was a combination – be you and whoever doesn’t understand is an asshole. Worse than all that I don’t even think they played the original Spiderman music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
