John Cleese has a new show debuting later this month called the Dinosaur Hour. Can’t wait. I listened to an interview where he perfectly addressed improvisation while describing truisms about a creative performing life. Must include his remarks in the upcoming colloquium. Not sure how it will go. I am writing a book about how improvisation alters the consciousness of a musician which alters their relationship to other experiences….so why talk about it before it is finished? Because that is how the system works. But people will have questions about something that is not yet finished. Yes, that is how it goes. How will you answer those questions which you cannot truthfully answer. I will tell the truth or else lie. What did John Cleese say? He said Monty Python was so lucky that the person who let them create 13 episodes just said go ahead see what you come up with. He said it was so rare for someone to trust creative people because usually they don’t understand it.
