“I saw this horror movie, and it’s not good for the brother” was my second favourite part watching the doc about making of We Are The World. Lionel Richie’s reflections on working with Michael Jackson reminds me of Mary Margaret O’Hara. Both make recordings of themselves humming to show musicians what they hear and wish the musicians to play. It is a great aspect of their talent and amusing that both accomplished artists singers worked similarly. Years ago someone in Mary Margaret’s band told me she sung all the parts on Miss America. Like even the drums, the bass. She would record herself on a cassette or 4 trk, doing everything. You don’t need clarinet lessons in order to hum what you hear. The quote about the horror movie is when, while writing with Michael, there are animals barking and squawking downstairs. It’s all weird the interruptions in Michael Jackson’s house between monkeys and birds. At one point he hears long loud exhalations coming from somewhere, then realizes there is a large snake in the room and Michael is excited because it was lost earlier. That’s when he says he ran out of the house and ” I saw this horror movie, it’s not good for the brother”. Also loved when they found Cyndi Lauper’s microphone not working which was a shame because she kept singing her heart out. Something was cracking in the mic. They decided it must be dying and went to get another and then realized it was her earrings making noise when her heard moved so swift. It’s also worth watching especially for Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, for Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan and for Stevie Wonder insisting they add Swahili which makes Waylon Jennings decide this wasn’t the way Hank done it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
