I saw a video of Jack White identifying Beatle songs from just one note. I could play that game too (I bet I could beat him at Dylan). Just one note is impressive. I compared myself to Jack White and he was quicker than me but then again who knows what went down before they released the final edit. One of my brothers was in the Bob Dylan army. I found it impressive, watching the lengths he went to displaying his Dylan knowledge. In my family we were raised with lots of history regarding the international efforts to kill all us Jews if we did not convert to Christianity. We were told the Christians believe this guy Jesus said he was the son of God but we don’t believe God has a son. That is why historically there is so much persecution towards us because and they also think we killed Jesus and that’s not all – Jesus was also a Jew like us. This was too bizaare to make any sense of. It must have royally fucked up that brother of mine when his favourite artist, who also was Jewish, went Christian. But that’s exactly what happens in life. Things that make no sense take the stage as normal and not just anyone can see it or question it. Just like the moment when I heard, additionally Jesus is a Jew. No different than first hearing Trump is running for president. No different than Ayaan Hirsi Ali, raised a Muslim in Somalia who has her genitals mutilated when she’s five years old, (arranged by her trusted adult, grandmother) and as an adult she makes a film exposing fgm and her Dutch co-director is beheaded while riding his bike and my friend Johnny, a university Professor, won’t read her first person accounts because according to graffitti he once saw somewhere she was called an Islamophobe so he won’t stoop to dignifying whatever she has to tell. Easy to recognize A Hard Days Night, Magical Mystery Tour or Getting Better from the opening second but could Jack White do better than me on Bungalow Bill which was the only one of forty that stumped me just now.
