It&#8217;s worth it. As you age you see more meaning in helping people, especially older than you like this amazing poem by Charles Bukowski: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Helping The Old<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">I was standing in line at the bank today\nwhen the old fellow in front of me\ndropped his glasses (luckily, within the\ncase) and as he bent over\nI saw how difficult it was for\nhimand I said, \u201cwait, let me get\nthem . . .\u201d\nbut as I picked them up\nhe dropped his cane\na beautiful, black polished\ncane\nand I got the glasses back to him\nthen went for the cane\nsteadying the old boy\nas I handed him his cane.\nhe didn\u2019t speak,\nhe just smiled at me,\nthen he turned forward.\n\nI stood behind him waiting\nmy turn.\n\nAfter church we went out for breakfast, and the neighbour, Betty, started discussing country and western music with me. She and her late husband loved Johnny Cash. Then she asked if I knew the Detour. She was in luck, if I had not played those three times with the Cameron Family Singers, I would not have known it. When we got into the car I put it on Spotify and she was blown away. How could I locate it so fast? She's 91. I explained Apple Music and Spotify etc., that besides self driving cars, laser eye surgery and identity politics another unique feature of this time and place is the availability of music anytime any song.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They need a driver and I&#8217;m the only one available even though I have to get to Guelph from Toronto.
