Every morning, he sat outside the Tim Horton&#8217;s and tapped the same slow, simple rhythm on an old snare. No fills. No flash. Just: <em>dum&#8230; tap&#8230; dum&#8230; tap&#8230;<\/em><br>Every day. Rain or shine. The other musicians mocked him. \u201cWhy don\u2019t you learn a solo, Hank?\u201d \u201cWhy don\u2019t you try a polyrhythm?\u201d \u201cWhy don\u2019t you try silence?\u201d But Hank just smiled and tapped. One day, a famous touring band passed through the village. Their drummer fell ill, and they were desperate. Hank was the only one available. They scoffed but let him sit in. \u201cDon\u2019t mess it up,\u201d said the lead singer. \u201cPlay what\u2019s written.\u201d Hank nodded and played his one beat  <em>dum&#8230; tap&#8230; dum&#8230; tap&#8230;<\/em> At first the band looked horrified. Then confused.<br>Then something strange happened. The crowd began to sway. The song slowed. And one by one, the musicians stopped showing off and started listening. After the show, the guitarist pulled Hank aside. \u201cHow did you know that beat would work?\u201d Hank shrugged. \u201cI didn\u2019t.
