Playing La Sala Rossa was a high-water moment. The place I\u2019d been aiming for, for years. In memory it had grown monstrous, twice the size, maybe more. Memory does that. The reality was smaller, saner, and therefore perfect, because we are not a stadium act. Delusions are expensive. I stayed with old friend Alex, though how we originally met has vanished into the fog with the rest of the nineties. She is incredible. I understand that more clearly now. She also gets permanent bonus points for being the catalytic event that set Magali and me on a collision course twenty years ago, which is another story entirely. A Montreal story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paula Moser later told me she couldn\u2019t even get tickets until days before the show, which explained a lot. The promoter, mid-set lamenting the situation to me, that we should do all this again for half the possible audience. No way Jos\u00e9. That’s not my plan, plus how did we have 70 – 100 people at all the other shows? I will sort out Montreal in the year 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
