It started at ten in the morning and rolled straight through until two the next morning. The invitation was exactly one sentence.<br>\u201cWe\u2019re reading <em>Paradise Lost<\/em> on Jan 3. Come anytime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How could I not go? How lucky to have friends like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have seen versions of <em>Paradise Lost<\/em> over the years but it didn&#8217;t jump out at me. But the idea itself was irresistible like the first time I heard what John Cage was up to. Whether or not the music interested me was irrelevant.
