I am doing too many things at once,
keeping a small weather system
above my head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A song in one hand,
a deadline in another,
three unanswered letters
balanced on my nose,
a tour rolling toward me
like a piano with no brakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some days
I am amazed by the juggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other days
I look up
and realize<\/p>\n\n\n\n
every ball is still in the air<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and suddenly understand
that this is not necessarily
good news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I keep throwing things upward
because catching them
would require deciding
where to put them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So there they remain,
appointments, songs, promises,
money, people I love,
things I forgot to worry about,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
circling above me
like extremely patient planets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One day
gravity will remember my address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until then,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
