I’d like to pitch a radio show where me and a millennial play music to each other each week to try and blow the other away. Started making a pilot today with a former student of mine, whose background is in church music. She played me Kim Burrell and PJ Morton, I didn’t know them, I can see why she loves them. I played her Weather Report, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Cissy Houston, she didn’t know them. She said Birdland by Weather Report reminded her of church music and she liked the tambourine. Never heard anyone say that about Weather Report which is why I would enjoy making a show like this. Neither one of us was blown away which maybe means it should be called Close But No Sitar.
