Each week starts with one student playing a song that changed their life. The first student to participate in September, played something by Julien Baker who I had not heard of. She’s on Matador which is a big deal. Shouldn’t be too hared to have a career if you are on Matador. Later I tried to reach her through her manager and ask if she would come to a future class and do Q&A about being a songwriter, about music business, about disappointments and/ or good times. And she agreed and it happened today. Nothing like catching someone early enough, before management/ record company/ agent insulation halts attempts to actually reach a human on a human level.
