the 40s

Started writing something in D major where I tried inserting diminished chords instead of the usual diatonic changes I might explore. Immediately reminiscent of cadences in romantic classical music. While studying the Barry Harris 6th diminished scale, one often hears him stating that this or that aspect of the 6th diminished scale is behind Chopin etc. I didn’t doubt it was true but I didn’t actually experience it until now. It’s like being in the 1940s and someone suggests power steering could be a thing.
