Watching an interview between Andre Previn and Oscar Peterson. Oscar says when he was a late teen he had become arrogant about his piano capabilities and his father, a man of few words said “I want to play you something” and he put on Art Tatum. Oscar didn’t play for piano for the next two months and cried at night. It’s hilarious and awesome. He says it emphatically “I cried!”
