The randomizer put on Wild World by Cat Stevens. I love that Tea for the Tillerman album ever since those adolescent days of summer camp and friends like Beryl Cohen. I still marvel at the production. Yesterday driving when it came on I realized the drum kit is so tiny. That’s it. Sounds like one microphone five feet away. You hardly make out any snare or toms. The hi hat present but sounds cheap. That’s the trick plus mixing the upright bass louder than everyone and moving slowly. So simple. Nobody since prepunkrock makes drums this hard to hear.
