A student made mention of relationship films and I thought to send her links to films memorable to me. Being in academia one has access to awesome subscriptions. I found a link to Annie Hall and sent it her way then put it on for the first time in forever. It has the most brilliant opening when the camera pans across the teachers at Woody Allen’s elementary school. The editing is so perfect to me. I love when next it cuts to the kid version of Woody Allen explaining to a doctor that the universe is expanding and therefor one day it will contract and all life will cease and his mother frustrated and ashamed hits him with her purse and says why is that any of your business? Those are the perfect words as are the dixieland soundtracks in so many of his films. Expands my universe.
