If I hold up 7 fingers my daughter doesn’t yet know it is seven. She will count internally to get to seven.  If I said go to the part of O Canada with the lyric “we see thee rise” probably you have to sing the song to yourself from the beginning in order to find the moment in question. I never thought much about that before and wonder now if musical memories are actually time-lapse memories or if it’s like the fingers on my hand and if you play the song a zillion times maybe you can intersect any moment without thinking twice.
