big old world

It’s that moment in an improvisation where someone is leading and someone else tries to go in another direction and they work it out in one of two ways. Theres an issue about trees communicating through fungi and some scientists wonder why they behave altruistically? I think that means they wonder why they don’t behave selfishly because that would be more natural, to be selfish like us humans. Is it the best thing to assume about us? I’m reading Human Behavior by Edward O. Wilson, from 1975, and he highlights much on the world of insects and mammals, particularly addressing altruism appearing in certain colonies or packs. There are ants that sacrifice themselves for the colony and apes that let the young eat some of their food if they pester them enough. This big old world includes selfish and selfless.
