There was a thing going around attributed falsely to Albert Einstein, “We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos. We are souls dressed up in sacred biochemical garments and our bodies are the instruments through which our souls play their music.” Even though according to snopes Einstein didn’t say it, the idea gave me a lot of pause, especially after recently re-listening to recordings of slowed down crickets. I think there might be something more to that line of observation, that we might be something else if we were moving at different speeds, because the truth is we only appear to be here. It seems like we are here but when you consider how long the line of time is, like the fact that we are just a fraction of a blip lasting for a hair of a spark, one could say we aren’t even here and it wouldn’t be too hard to defend…except for the fact that it is we, the living, defending our existence. But I wonder, like the fact that we can speed up or slow down music and then it is something much different, if there is an angle from which way seems to be our lives, can be like that.
