The people who created the old Acetone organ, didn’t anticipate the on/off switch being a musical choice, however, it was for me. If one held down notes and turned off the instrument, there was a lovely unique decay to the sound of the note fading. Often I surfed around utilizing that effect for its musicality. It was surprising when I first heard people using auto-tune on their vocals, intentionally calling attention to the effect instead of the way it was intended to mask incorrect pitches. Didn’t take long to realize some artists like the effect. A zillion engineers in the background somewhere rolling their eyes but change proceeds like that.
