one of the most amusing talking points since bernie sanders left the race is how many supporters are frustrated that he wasn’t going more for the jugular. they miss the point. if he indeed went for the jugular and left the race, then they would be saying he never should have gone for the jugular because it turned people off. the thing is, the bern stayed true to himself which was so much more incredible. every year i meet many young music students, it isn’t usual to hear that their dreams are to be like liberace, kenny G. or rebecca black. they want to be like aretha franklin, john coltrane or keith jarrett. maybe when confronted with a broken machine it might be more inspiring to see someone say i’m not going to behave broken just because the machine is.
