fairy tales

Some people think that great musicians are different than non musicians. It is genetics or mystical or nature but no, they’re just taxi drivers. Like you parachuted into Lithuania and you dont speak the language or know how to find food or get to a hospital. A Lithuanian taxi driver can do all of that and it might amaze you especially the first time you are in the back seat noticing they know their way around you might even find it incredible that they have conversations in Lithuanian. How do they conjugate so quickly? But why shouldn’t they, they live there and you don’t. The first thing their fingers did wasn’t play like Django Reinhardt, it was play like Mary Had A Little Lamb. If you want to move to Vilna, you’ll soon know it too. If you want to memorize every street name or inquire how each obtained its meaning, you might then become a fantastic taxi driver. Might buy books about improving your Lithuanian, learn a new unique word each day and speak eloquently. .There are taxi drivers who do believe they are something special. Do indeed think they know more than other taxi drivers, like how to get through rush hour using secret back lanes or the location of a special restaurant or an obscure variety store for fireworks that aren’t sold legally anymore. That’s just as delusional because they didn’t invent the store or the restaurant or the streets of the rush hour shortcut, they just know how to drive there. What actually is mystical or genetic or an amazing aspect of nature would be realizing they are both poor schmucks believing in a situation that doesn’t actually exist except for the way they invest themselves in the fairy tale. Maybe that’s where one discovers something profound and mystical… just kidding, Django forever.
