Most people know what they look like, primarily from mirrors, but that’s a reversed image. Your right eye in the mirror, is actually your left eye. We live with this map of what we look like – which is not in fact what we look like; in the mirror you are reversed. I loved Sam Larkin. Smartest thing I ever did was make that last record for him creating an excuse for us to hang out each week. I loved talking with him about life and the world and song. What a shock to realize he played harp from high to low. He blew the higher notes by moving his mouth left. Blasphemy. There is a patch on the virtual mini moog where the piano also is played with high pitches located by descending and low pitches in the treble clef. It’s awesome, takes away the rules and reminds you that music itself is something different than the design of an instrument. Maybe that’s how it is between existing or thinking about the image of you.

Oh man, that would be trip and a half to do a whole gig with the pitches reversed!
