Telling the truth is a problem, can’t control who tells it and who doesn’t. We raise children and tell them to do it or we try forcing them or threatening them but it’s up to each whether to lie or not. Follows you around a whole lifetime, a forever issue. If telling the truth was natural then why do we make up laws and punishments about it? If it was natural to tell the truth then why do we invent the idea of an oath as if repeating a script provided by a judge or employee of the court makes someone’s testimony accountable? If it was really natural then why do you constantly lie to yourself? Maybe it’s not natural. Maybe the wider way to explain it is that it isn’t natural to restrict your access to privilege? Or maybe even better is to say it isn’t natural to limit opportunities to acquire your desire? Cancer cells steal energy from healthy cells. Polluters look the other way for their short term financial gain despite facts about cumulative destruction of the very resource they exploit, let alone the fact that it is suicidal.
Much lying in songs, maybe most obvious when young people sing lyrics about lived experiences. Does it ring true when seventeen year old Billie Eilish sings Bad Guy or twelve year old Michael Jackson singing Now I’m Going To Teach You Dear All About Love or fourteen year old Frankie Lymon pleading Love is A Losing Game, Love Can Be a Shame, I know of A Fool You See, For That Fool is Me. Maybe that’s why the artists I love the most hold those positions because I believe them. Everybody Knows That The Dice Are Loaded, Everybody Rolls With Their Fingers Crossed.

If your soul is your most valuable resource, than so is choosing truth over lies.
