Even though the brain is in charge of everything, which is a zillion different things. Absolutely incomprehensible to consciousness which is in charge of one or two things at a time (unless your great bob scott). Still, the brain on some level has to deal with the disturbance that it itself didn’t create itself. Like, maybe something is looking over it’s shoulder as it does the job of supposedly being in charge. The position of consciousness is also like that. You supposedly are heading downtown or or planning to do yoga or to stop eating that thing that’s not good for you – but you know something uncontrollable could thwart the plan. So what is in control, if anything? The position of improvising whether writing a lyrical song or creating instrumental music is also just like this. You are playing with that very thing that also sometimes foils the plans but it is an acknowledgement that there is an internal river and it has a wild rapid and you are able to at once be in the water able to go with the current or jump up on the bank to try cherry picking some aspect of it until it overtakes you again.
