I went to Sheila Gostick’s home today to buy a book. She tried to sell me two but I only wanted one. I made the mistake of asking which one she recommended which meant each time I leaned toward one she advocated the other. Seems like it was long ago that I enjoyed Now Magazine so much. Anytime I did it was due to her columns. At year’s end they used to compile top ten musical artists. In 1985 or 1986 I remember us standing on the porch outside Greg’s loft where rehearsals happened. They thought Michael Hollett was the greatest moron ever for selecting Yoko Ono in his list along with Pop Goes The World. In high school I had Fly and Double Fantasy and bought Season of Glass after Lennon was murdered. They didn’t take anyone seriously who liked her, they were into REM. REM made me yawn. Ten years earlier in the song Kiss Kiss Kiss, on Double Fantasy, Yoko records herself having an orgasm. Take that REM. That rehearsal space is long gone. Condominiums now as are what were once warehouse spaces across from Sheila’s place. Even though I only bought one $20 book (zine actually) she threw in a hand made poster
