Marking the last songs people wrote for the class. One young guy always has songs about death and I think they’re quite good. His final submission is about the fact that as you get older your confronted more with awareness of our imminent expiry date. I asked how he got this way since he’s very young. He replied my question was flawed, it presumes I know more about it because I’m older, why can’t he be concerned that we have to die, each and everyone of us. What does that have to do with who’s older than who? He was right of course, I just remember being his age, enjoying the fact that life didn’t yet position me noticing how close I was to the cliff’s edge or that it’s an unstoppable escalator to the exit.
