I was tasked with doing a literature review on improvisation and climate change. To help complete the task I approached the librarian at the university and took couple tutorials with him. My talent for this has been slightly expanded and I’m accumulating data from many sources but then I came upon an article that stunned me. Particularly, tonight listening to six indigenous musics, so special. Ghanaian Ewe dance-drumming, Amami shima uta from Japan, Korean samulnori, Vietnamese ca tru` and Yawulyu songs from Central Australia. There’s a lot of continuity between all these creative histories and what’s generally categorized as avant garde here.
