While walking today listening to a random playlist, Day of The Locust came on from New Morning and I looked forward to hearing the verse where Bob Dylan sings “the man next to me, his head was exploding, I was praying the pieces wouldn’t fall on me” but when it arrived it came with a new revelation. The “p” of “pieces” pops. Absolutely awesome. A popped p just isn’t in the cards in 21rst century music production. I can’t explain how wonderful it is to realize something new about something you have heard a million times before. Haven’t been this excited since accidentally hearing Klaus Voorman’s clam in the descending line of the third verse of Imagine, “imagine all the people sharing all the world”. A thing of beauty preserved forever.
