steamboats

We used to count steamboats when playing football, like the duration for you to speak the word “steamboat” was the way to measure how long the person with the football had before you were permitted a chance to kick their face in. You get seven steamboats and that’s all and even then the end results were an improvisation. Like how fast the opposing team counted the steamboats, whether the receiver was free, whether the throw got off. There was something about moving back to throw a long bomb while someone counts steamboats or rushes you and releasing the ball and getting a beautiful spiral in the air and seeing it successfully land in the arms of the target you hoped to reach that is just like when the band turns to you and nods their nose for you to do your thing and you do or sometimes it didn’t;t come out well and your opponent does indeed kick your face in.
