Have to make a presentation to my class. The readings for the class insinuate that this or that ideology will result in changes that make the external aspects of the world better or better for that ideology. I don’t think an intellectual argument, even if apparently bullet proof, results in people accepting it because of it’s compelling sensibility. I’m reminded of this while watching anti-vax people and their allergy to others telling them facts. I don’t mind people trying to change the world for the better, I’ll sign the petition, I might volunteer shifts, but in my heart of hearts the only thing one can change is oneself and that’s only a maybe. As for trying to change external things … the state of broke has a long legacy and I think it’ll continue to stick around. So, for my presentation I’m thinking about the surprise of layers within layers to any story. Maybe we will watch a video of Elvis Presley doing Teddy Bear and later play the original by Otis Blackwell. The more you know the more you know. Hope that fits and allows me some squeeze-ability.
