In the long writing story I often experience seeing more clearly after taking breaks, then returning with fresh eyes. Often sentences I laboured over are not as interesting the 2cnd or 3rd time and the fix is deleting it or rearranging it, putting the last half of the sentence at the front or the last sentence at the start. The same thing holds true in songwriting. It’s a cool surprise to make the last verse first and see what that does to the sequence. Sometimes it breathes the kind of unexpected sequence perfectly into the tone.
