The producer told the singer they were out of tune and needed to sing their part over again. But the singer didn’t hear it and became resentful even suspicious that the producer was inventing the criticism, probably to justify their role leading the recording. They called their manager and complained and the manager called the producer’s agent who said she would talk to him. The agent called the producer and said if you lose this gig I’m not working with you again. The producer dropped their criticism. Later the reviews called the singer out of tune, the singer said they will never work with that producer again but then the video went viral and later the album was nominated for best of the year and at the podium upon winning the singer thanked God and their parents and the producer. The filmmaker who started making the doc tried interviewing the singer and the producer simultaneously and at one point asked if the vocals were sometimes out of tune on purpose or not.
